Message	My couple-month-old battery shows mid 12s iirc. You may be thinking of voltage with the car on, because the alternator puts out a higher voltage to keep the battery topped off (14.4 is "perfect"; high 13s is fine). That also explains your 14 volts while jumping...the other car was running so its alternator was holding its and your battery at 14.
